Aikido of Minnesota COVID Plan
Last updated February 20, 2023
We are grateful for the various ways we have stayed connected and the new ways we are coming together. As our teacher, Okimura Shihan, said, “In our short lifetime, make every meeting an occasion to celebrate.”
“It is necessary to develop a strategy that utilizes all the physical conditions and elements that are directly at hand. The best strategy relies upon an unlimited set of responses.” Morihei Ueshiba, Founder of Aikido
Indoor Practice
Indoor practice at the AoM dojo at 755 Prior Ave in St. Paul will be guided by the following plan.
- Participants should self-monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home if they have symptoms, or if in the last 14 days have been in close physical contact with a person who is known to have COVID-19, or are otherwise concerned that they may have COVID-19 .
- Participants must wash hands thoroughly in restrooms outside dojo entrance prior to entering dojo.
- We follow CDC guidelines around mask wearing. Signage will be posted at the dojo if masking is required.
- Instructors will ensure proper disinfection of mat and common surfaces, using EPA certified disinfectant.
- AoM has installed GPS ionization technology in the HVAC system to clean and purify the air. This technology safely cleans the air by using an electronic charge to create a field of ions that kills pathogens, reduces the airborne concentration of the COVID virus and increases the effectiveness of HVAC filtration. This is accomplished without using unsafe chemicals or creating any unwanted byproducts.
